Neighbourhood Favourite, Botellón, Brings the Spanish Coast to the Heart of Graceville

Botellón Brisbane

Tucked away on leafy Honour Avenue in Graceville, Botellón is a warm and welcoming neighbourhood tapas bar bringing the bold, sun-drenched flavours of the Mediterranean to Brisbane’s west. With a warm atmosphere inspired by the laneways of Madrid and the plazas of Barcelona, the venue channels Spanish charm through soulful food, relaxed hospitality, and an inviting space perfect for everything from casual catch-ups to long Sunday lunches.

Owned by local hospitality talent Maddison Walker and led in the kitchen by Head Chef Matt Woodhouse, Botellón is proudly female-owned and deeply connected to its community. Together, the duo has crafted a menu that celebrates traditional Spanish techniques with a fresh, modern twist.

The standout? Their signature paella; smoky Chorizo y Pollo, Mariscos with scallop, octopus and saffron aioli, and the vegetarian Verde, featuring mushroom and artichoke. Alongside the paella, diners can enjoy a stellar line-up of tapas and mains. Think garlic prawns with chilli, olive oil and lemon, lightly battered baby calamari with aioli, croquettes filled with jamon, manchego and jalapeño, and the slow-cooked Margra lamb shoulder with goats curd, shishito peppers and a sherry glaze. Complementing the menu is a drinks list brimming with Spanish and local wines, craft beers, classic cocktails, and seasonal specials like sangria and mulled wine.

Adding to its charm, Botellón hosts a beloved monthly event – the Paella Sunday Session – transforming the venue into a buzzing Spanish street party. The next installment will take place on Sunday 13 July from 12pm to 4pm, inviting locals to gather for an afternoon of good food, drinks and live music. Head Chef Matt and Sous Chef Aby will be firing up the hibachi grill for wagyu, octopus and mushroom skewers, alongside made-to-order paella featuring favourites like chicken and chorizo or Mooloolaba prawn. DJ Terrance from insounds.empty will be setting the mood with relaxed bar beats, while jugs of sangria and mulled wine flow throughout the afternoon.

Whether you’re after a laid-back dinner with friends or a lively Sunday feast, Botellón brings a slice of the Mediterranean to Graceville – full of flavour, warmth, and Spanish soul.
