A new eatery and café serving modern Australian brunch along with Asian-infused cuisine has opened at Burpengary Plaza by local Chef/Owner James Zhao and his wife Lin.
Located in the Burpengary Plaza Food Court, Hai Tea has modern, cozy vibes that will make people feel instantly relaxed, whether they are stopping in for a tea or for their signature dishes of Eggs Foo Young, Bao or Eggs Benny.
Mr Zhao has over 20 years of hospitality experience, working and travelling all over the world, including 10 years as a chef in Australia throughout restaurants and cafes in New South Wales and Queensland.“We relocated to Burpengary two years ago, and we love this suburb. We have worked in other local cafes and we can tell the area’s population is growing fast, so I am excited to bring my style of modern Asian and a twist of Australian cuisine to Burpengary.
“Eggs Benny is our healthy breakfast delight. We use house-made potato rosti as the base instead of bread and we finish it with freshly made hollandaise sauce on poached, runny eggs. Our Bao section is also a must-try for people who don’t want a big meal, and our Eggs Foo Young combine an Aussie omelet with Asian flavours. “We also offer a seven-hour, slow-cooked Beef Toasted Sandwich that comes with fries on the side, and our Gluten Free Pad Thai is a great option for a quick lunch, so we have a diverse menu that has options for everyone.” Other menu items include Slow-Cooked Pork Eggs Benny, Chicken Bao, Smashed Avocado with Pistachio Nut Dukkah and Chicken Karaage Burgers, plus fresh juices, smoothies, shakes and delicious coffees.
Mr Zhao is particularly excited over the café’s name. “The name Hai Tea sounds similar to High Tea (English afternoon tea), but we created this name using ‘Hai’, which mean ‘Yes’, a positive attitude, and ‘Tea’ to create a happy, relaxed place where customers can enjoy our memorable food, drinks and tea. “In addition to keeping a detailed eye on our products and services, my wife and I are also excited to work with some lovely, local, experienced baristas, who also can’t wait to serve our Burpengary Plaza customers with great service, good coffee and delicious tastes to remember.”
Burpengary Plaza Marketing Director Donna O’Neill said the addition of Hai Tea Eatery & Café brought exciting new flavours to the centre’s already diverse food offering. “Hai Tea is a welcome, warm addition to the 18 other delicious food offerings at Burpengary Plaza. We look forward to everyone enjoying the mix of fresh Australian and Asian cuisine that James is creating for our customers.”
Hai Tea Eatery & Café is open from 8am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and from 8am to 2pm on Sunday. Details at https://www.burpengaryplaza.com.au/
