A wonderful night was had at the Queensland Multicultural Council (QMC) end of year celebration. This saw local Brisbane business people from many different cultures and countries come together to celebrate business, and the role of diversity in strengthening Brisbane businesses.
Based on 2021 Census data, almost half of us have at least one parent born overseas (48.2%), and almost a quarter of us (24.8%) speak a language other than English at home.
These statistics bring about a different attitude towards diversity, and there is much research that shows how diversity can enhance businesses around overall culture and feeling of belonging, problem solving skills, and the general health & well being of employees. Although there is still work to be done, entities such as the QMC assist in growing diversity practices further.
A quick mention also to Indian Brothers at Annerley who put on an amazing feast throughout the evening.
