Brisbane Dads Make History in World-First Fitness Showdown

100 fathers step up at Logan’s Fittest Dad Classic, from everyday gym-goers to a CrossFit Games athlete that can lift 167kg.

Logan is about to make history with the world’s first Fittest Dad Classic. On 14 September at CrossFit Iron Barbell, Meadowbrook, 100 Queensland dads will throw down in a one-day fitness showdown unlike anything seen before.

With the goal of recognising how important fitness is for men and especially for dads, this ground breaking competition has the motto Fatherhood & Fitness.

The event features a weightlifting total that includes a power clean, bench press and overhead squat, before team workouts test grit, endurance and teamwork. Former CrossFit Games competitor Adam Mansy, from the Gold Coast, is tipped to dominate with a jaw-dropping 167kg barbell hoist from floor to shoulders..

But the event isn’t just about elite athletes. Most competitors are everyday local dads determined to set a strong example. Jason Meed, father of three girls from Logan, says:

“I can show my girls that being healthy should be part of your everyday routine.”

With part proceeds supporting Sana Days, a Queensland charity championing exercise for mental health, the Fittest Dad Classic highlights the vital role of fitness in both physical and mental wellbeing.

With food trucks, coffee, a buzzing vendor village and spectator-friendly action, the Fittest Dad Classic is set to put Logan, and Brisbane dads, on the global fitness map.
